Mountain Bike Rides

We have tons of great mountain biking in the area.  Looking for someone to ride with?  Check our Facebook Events page for upcoming events, or this Facebook group: Mountain Bikers of the 540 and 340: Northern Shenandoah Valley

Rolling Ridge Retreat Center: These are challenging and fun trails.  You’ll need to fill out a waiver once a year, found here.  Also, don’t forget to sign in at one of the kiosks.

Cacapon Resort State Park: Cacapon has a lot of amenities as a West Virginia State Park.  Lots of great trails, and the mountain bike club has been working on new trails.  Some of the new trails have been mapped on MTB Project.  The trails tend to be rocky, but new beginner-friendly trails are in the works.

Shenandoah River “Andy Guest” State Park: These trails are great for beginners, as they are machine-made, so mostly smooth.  Lots of elevation change, though, so you’re going to get a workout!  With 15-20 miles of trails, you can spend the whole day.  And as a State Park, there are plenty of other things to do there other than just riding, like camping, kayaking, tubing, zip-lining, and more!  I suggest Bear Bottom Loop.  Don’t miss the Shale Barrens downhill though – but be careful of the sharp right-hand turn!
